In March of this year, CNN reported that there has never been a better time to be single. Not only are there more singles in the U.S. than ever before, it seems like the trend will continue. People are marrying later if they marry at all. 55% of millennials say that getting married is not an important milestone to become an adult. That stat that has shifted significantly in the past 50 years.
The definition for “single” is a moving target. Definitions include, but are not limited to:
Unmarried but living together
Unmarried and not dating
No significant other
So it is really hard to nail down what someone means when they say “single.” Yet, as the U.S. becomes more and more of all these singles, Christians must be thinking about how to respond and live in it. Starting on page one, marriage is all over the Scriptures… Does God have anything to say to us about singleness?
Yes. Yes, he does.
I really want to encourage you to join us at church as we explore God’s Plan for Singleness. As it goes with God’s plans, they’re always way bigger and better than we can imagine.
Note to the coupled: If you’re married, engaged, or dating, tomorrow is for you too. First, you may not always be coupled. Plus, you have single friends which God has called you to minister to. Understanding what God says about singleness can only help you be a better Christian and friend.
