When it comes to sharing our faith there are three types of people, but most of us assume there are only two.
- Group A: Those that are obedient to Jesus' command to tell.
- Group B: Those who aren't.
In one way or another, Group A shares Jesus with everyone they talk to. The barista at the local coffee shop is going to hear something about Jesus before that quick point of sale finishes. While this can be done poorly, some people are really good at it. I know I'm not supposed to be jealous, but I'm a little jealous of the people that make it look easy and do it really well. It can seem like Group A are super Christians. The rest of us are mere pedestrians.
Group B is full of people that never share their faith. Some would call these people secret agent Christians (Which I don't think is fair). Most people in Group B wish they were better at talking about Jesus. They wish they could be as smooth as Group A. They probably feel some level of guilt about not sharing their faith. I know because, while this is a little hard to admit, this is my personal default. I'm a pastor, shouldn't Group A be my default? Shouldn't I make it look easy? Probably, but I'm just being real with you guys.
But what if I was to tell you there is a Group C which I now consider myself a part of? There is hope for the rest of us. You can talk about Jesus in ways that are natural to you. While you may never lead someone to follow Christ in the Target checkout line, you can still live a spiritually productive life. That's what our final week in Messengers is all about. We're going to give you the tools to be representatives for Christ wherever you are. I think you'll leave equipped and excited to begin your new journey in Group C.
If you're in Group A, you're still allowed to come. We'll just marvel at your abilities.
