Have You Ever Felt Lonely?

Mosaic JP Family,

I'm looking forward to worshiping with you tomorrow. I have a message that is really special to me, and I hope it will be to you also.

Have you ever felt lonely? I have, and even when surrounded by people. This is a universal problem that according to some studies afflicts nearly half of all Americans. Disconnectedness isn't about the presence of people but about our relationship to people. The consequences are more significant than just feeling sad too. There are many studies that have shown a link to loneliness and health concerns, both physical and mental. Loneliness is also estimated to shorten one's life more than smoking 15 cigarettes a day, or more than obesity.  A Cigna health executive officer talking about one such study by his company stated, “We’re seeing a lack of human connection, which ultimately leads to a lack of vitality,” he said, “or a disconnect between mind and body.”

So, on Sunday we'll be looking at what the Bible says about community and relationships. Is God really all we need? If we are lonely are we somehow lacking in spiritual vitality?  How can we experience authentic Christian community? We'll also be sharing with you about Community groups. CG's are the way we foster Christian community at Mosaic, and we have a new group launching with lunch on Sunday afternoon, 1:30 pm. Derek and Hannah Wheeler will be leading and hosting the new group at their home 260 Metropolitan Ave, Apt 3, Roslindale, MA 02131. Sunday 1:30 will be the regular meeting time. Please email me or Derek with any questions.  If you think this group might be for you please give it a try.
